Frequently Asked Questions
Last Updated: September 8, 2026.
Hashchats lets you chat privately with AI or bring AI into direct messages and group chats. Everyone in a shared chat can read the AI replies. Reusable hashtags add saved instructions to a request, so you do not have to write the same prompt each time.
You can ask questions, work with documents, create images, make short videos or generate songs. In a People chat, you can work on the same conversation with other participants and request AI help when you need it. Hashtags let you reuse instructions for recurring tasks.
Use the AI tab for private conversations and the People tab for direct messages or groups. The @ai toggle determines whether sending a message requests an AI response. With it on, the model type dropdown beside it selects Text, Image, Video or Audio. The # button opens saved hashtag prompts for the selected type. The app chooses the provider behind each type automatically.
Hashchats states that it does not use your data to train AI models or use API providers that train on that data. Your requests and relevant content are still processed by service providers to deliver AI features, and chat history and uploads are stored. See the Privacy Policy for processing, sharing and retention details. This is not a promise that content stays only on your device.
Yes, you can sign up with a free account and use Hashchats with our mobile app, available on both iOS and Android, as well as our web app.
Hashchats works on the web and is compatible with both desktop and mobile browsers.
It also has native mobile apps for iOS and Android. The iOS app works on most iPhones and iPads, and the Android app works on most Android smartphones and tablets.
Yes. The Hashchats web app and native iOS and Android apps include screen-reader support for blind users, including labels for chats, messages, media attachments, polls, composer controls, and important notifications.
You can use people chats without a subscription. Eligible new accounts receive a one-time $2 AI trial credit that can be used for private AI chats or AI requests in shared chats. After available trial usage runs out, you can still send ordinary messages and read shared AI replies requested by participants with available usage. Pro costs $20/month and includes $20 of AI usage. Upgrade through Account Management on the web app, then use the same account on mobile.
Yes. You can keep sending ordinary messages in direct messages and group chats and read AI replies requested by other participants with available usage. You need available AI usage of your own to request another AI response.
Check Account Management for your remaining trial balance. Trial credit is a one-time allocation, not a monthly refill. Account eligibility can vary, and a help answer cannot establish why an individual balance changed. Contact support if the displayed balance seems wrong.
The one-time trial is subject to signup eligibility checks. Repeated signups or signals of abuse can prevent trial credit from being granted. Check Account Management for your account's balance. A help answer cannot see or override the reason for an individual eligibility decision.
A positive trial balance is not always enough to start a request. Each AI type has a starting-balance check, and the final text cost also depends on context and answer length. Video needs $1.00 of available trial usage for 5 seconds or $2.00 for 10 seconds; a song needs $0.25. Check Account Management and the selected model type. You can keep sending ordinary People messages with @ai off, or upgrade on the web app.
Pro costs $20 per month in USD and includes $20 of AI usage per billing period. Additional usage is billed at the published pay-per-use rates.
Pro includes $20 of AI usage per billing period, shared across all four types. It is not unlimited generation or a separate $20 allowance for each type. Usage beyond the allowance is billed at the same rates.
| Type and tier | USD rate | If all $20 is used for this type |
|---|---|---|
| Text / Advanced | $0.010 per 1,000 processed tokens | 2 million tokens |
| Image / Masterpiece | $0.100 per image | 200 images |
| Video / Shorts | $0.200 per second | 100 seconds |
| Audio / Music | $0.25 per song | 80 songs |
Text usage includes the input, answer and relevant context. Video supports 5 or 10 seconds, costing $1.00 or $2.00. Songs cost $0.25 regardless of their generated length; 10 billable seconds does not mean a 10-second song. A requested song duration can be up to 300 seconds, but the actual output length can vary.
Once you exceed your $20 in included usage, you'll automatically transition to pay-per-use billing at the same rates. AI usage is tracked in real time and shown in your usage summary on the Account Management page. Any overages are automatically billed in your next billing cycle.
You can check your real-time usage summary anytime on the Account Management page. It provides a breakdown of your text, image, video, and audio usage for the current billing period.
Tokens are pieces of text processed by an AI model. In English, a token is often roughly four characters, but this varies by language, model and content. Input and output both count. Relevant history, hashtag instructions, documents, reasoning and search context can add usage beyond the words you just typed. Check Account Management for recorded usage rather than treating the length of your message as the complete bill.
Yes. In Account Management on the web app, choose Manage Your Subscription and use the Stripe billing portal to cancel. Check the effective date shown in Stripe; the published policy describes cancellation at the end of the billing period. You do not need to delete your account to cancel. Account deletion is irreversible and uses a separate immediate cancellation flow.
Checkout is handled by Stripe. Use the payment methods shown at checkout for your location, currency and device; not every card, wallet or installment option is available in every case.
We don't offer refunds for canceled subscriptions. If you're facing technical issues, reach out to [email protected], and we'll help resolve them.
Subscription checkout and subscription management are currently available on the Hashchats Web App. On mobile, you can still use your account and AI features based on your current plan.
Return to the Hashchats web app after checkout and open Account Management. If the page still shows your old plan, refresh the web app, wait a moment for Stripe confirmation to finish, and check Account Management again. If your Pro plan still does not appear, contact support with your Hashchats account email and the approximate checkout time so we can help investigate. Do not send passwords, verification codes, or full card numbers in support messages.
Open Account Management in the web app and choose Manage Your Subscription. The Stripe billing portal provides the available payment, billing, invoice and cancellation controls. Subscription checkout and management are not handled inside the native mobile apps.
Choose New Chat from Home. With available AI usage, a new private chat starts with @ai on and Text selected. Type your question and send it. You can use the model type dropdown to choose media generation, or the # button to choose a saved prompt. Inviting someone through Add People makes the conversation shared, including its existing history.
In the AI tab, open the chat row's More menu and choose Delete Chat, then confirm. Inside a private chat, open Chat Options using its name or More control and choose Delete Chat. Deletion is permanent.
For a People chat with other participants, use Exit Chat instead. Leaving does not remove their conversation history. Content already forwarded, downloaded or shared elsewhere is not recalled by deleting the original chat.
Start a New Chat and choose the Temporary Chat clock control in its header before sending the first message. The control is offered only while a regular private AI chat is empty. It keeps that chat out of regular history and makes it eligible for automatic deletion after about 24 hours of inactivity. Cleanup is periodic, not an exact countdown. Temporary chats do not create durable memory and do not support Scheduled Messages.
For an existing contact, open their More menu in Contacts and choose Start a New Chat. To invite people into a new or existing chat, use Add People in its header. You can select Hashchats contacts, copy an invitation link, use email invitations or display a QR code. Native mobile apps also offer phone-contact invitations by SMS or email.
Invitation links normally last about 24 hours. A recipient must sign in and join; new participants can read the existing chat history. Check which conversation you are sharing before inviting someone. Opening a QR code or copying a link does not create a chat-list preview or move an empty private chat into People. A sent email or successful share creates the preview Waiting for people to join only when the chat has no previous message. Existing previews are preserved; the invitation itself adds no conversation message.
Ask a current participant to generate a fresh invitation through Add People. Links normally expire after about 24 hours and also stop working if the inviter has left the chat. If signed out, sign in and continue with the valid invitation. A deleted chat or a chat at its participant limit cannot accept a normal join. Joining gives access to the existing conversation history.
People chats include direct messages and groups, with up to 100 participants. Send with @ai off to talk to people. A participant with available AI usage can turn it on to request an AI response, which is visible to the group and charged to the requester. Other participants do not need their own AI credit to read it. The creator is the initial admin, and a chat has one admin at a time.
For an unsaved new private chat, selecting the New Chat title opens the Chat Name dialog directly, without a Chat Options popup. Enter a name and select Done to save it before the first message. Cancelling does not save the chat. Once the chat is saved, including by naming it or sending a message, selecting its title opens the full Chat Options menu. Search Messages, Media & Files, Advanced Options and Delete Chat are then available, even if the saved chat has no messages. Saving a chat name adds a non-AI activity message, such as Renamed chat to "Dog", and updates the last-message preview together with the name. A newly named private chat therefore appears in the AI tab and becomes eligible for chat search without a user-written message. Existing People chats use the same rename activity. The activity does not request an AI response. Activity messages record renames, participant additions and joins, departures while others remain, removals, admin transfers, chat photo changes, Auto-Delete changes and enabling Temporary Chat. They also record enabling or disabling Universal Hashtags and creating or removing Scheduled Messages in eligible private AI and People chats. Activity messages cannot be edited or deleted individually; other message actions remain available. They update the chat-list preview without decorative emojis. Pinning and unpinning remain silent, with no new activity or preview. Muting and translation preferences do not add activity messages.
Open Chat Options by selecting the chat name or its More control. Rename Chat, Search Messages and Media & Files are there. Advanced Options contains Set Chat Photo, Universal Hashtags and, in eligible chats, Scheduled Messages. People chats also have Chat Participants, Mute Chat / Unmute Chat, Auto-Translate Messages, Auto-Delete Messages and Exit Chat.
Rename, photo, universal hashtag and auto-delete changes affect the shared chat. Muting and translation preferences are personal. Removing participants and transferring admin status require the current admin.
Yes. Type @ while writing a message to mention someone in the chat. Direct mentions can help get someone's attention, including in muted chats where supported. In sent messages, a person mention displays their name in bold blue without the @ symbol. Tap the name to open their profile image. Participant removal notices use a bold name without a profile link.
Only the current admin can remove another participant. Open the chat name or More control to show Chat Options, choose Chat Participants, open More beside that person, then choose Remove Participant and confirm. Add People handles invitations. There is no participant-removal swipe gesture. If you are not the admin, ask the current admin to act.
As the current admin, open Chat Options → Chat Participants. Open More beside the participant who should take over, choose Transfer Admin, and confirm. This transfers the single admin role; it does not add a second admin.
In the People tab, open a chat's More menu and choose Exit Chat, or use Chat Options → Exit Chat inside it. Confirm to leave. Other participants keep the chat and its history. If you are the last participant, exiting also deletes the chat. Private AI chats instead have Delete Chat.
Yes. From either the chat list or chat options, you can mute or unmute people chats anytime. Muting stops regular chat notifications for that chat, while direct mentions can still alert you. Poll-vote notifications respect mute too.
Yes. You can pin important chats so they stay at the top of your list. Pinning is personal to your account, and you can pin up to 10 chats per tab.
Open Chat Options → Advanced Options → Auto-Translate Messages and choose your receiving language. This is your preference for that chat, not a language change for everyone. Incoming messages can appear translated. In a message's More menu, use Show Original, Show Translation or Translate Message, when offered, to inspect or request that message's translation.
Open Chat Options → Advanced Options → Auto-Delete Messages. Choose None, 12 Hours, 24 Hours, 7 Days or 30 Days. This is a shared chat setting, not a personal hide option. Older messages become eligible for periodic deletion at that age; it is not an exact deletion timer. Chats with auto-delete enabled do not create durable memory.
When you open a people chat with three or more unread messages, Hashchats shows an Unread button and a Summary button. Unread jumps to the last message you had read. Summary immediately marks the messages through the latest one at tap time as read, then creates a quick AI recap. For very large catch-ups, the recap covers the newest 100 unread messages while older unread messages are still marked as read. Both buttons disappear as soon as either one is tapped, even if the next action cannot be completed.
On a phone or mobile layout, swipe the message from right to left. On desktop web, hover over it and click Reply. Check the reply preview above the composer, write your message and send. If you want AI to respond to that message, keep @ai on and use Text for a question or explanation. Close the reply preview to return to a normal message.
On a phone or mobile layout, double-tap an eligible message and choose a destination chat. On desktop web, hover over it and choose Forward. Some content, such as GIF messages or a message still being sent or generated, does not offer the same forwarding action. Clips are sent as videos and can use the normal forwarding action when eligible. Forwarding shares a copy with the destination chat.
You can only share media (photos, videos, audio, and files) on mobile by tapping the share icons. On the web, sharing outside of Hashchats is disabled by default but you can always download media.
Tap a message on mobile, or hover on desktop web, to reveal its actions. Open More → Download Message for text export and choose plain text or Markdown. Use the download control on a media attachment to save that image, video, audio or file. Tables also have a CSV download action.
In a People chat, swipe from left to right on a message in the mobile layout, or hover and choose the eye-shaped Views control on desktop web. Private AI and temporary chats do not have a people-viewers list. Use the reaction control to add a reaction; on mobile, a long press also opens reaction choices.
If you are asking AI to read or explain an attachment, keep @ai on and Text selected. Open the paperclip Attach control. Desktop web uses Upload Files for documents and supported images, video and audio. Phone layouts offer media-specific choices such as Upload Photos and Upload Videos; native mobile People messages with AI off use Photos / Videos. Add a webpage URL directly to your message for Text AI.
| Composer state | Supported attachments per message |
|---|---|
| @ai off | Up to 20 images, videos, audio and files combined |
| Text | Up to 8 images, videos, audio and files combined |
| Image | Up to 8 images |
| Video | One reference image |
| Audio | No attachments |
With @ai off, GIFs and Clips are separate buttons in the composer. GIFs opens the GIF picker; Clips opens the clip picker. Attach also offers Poll / Survey and Location Pin. Image and Video need image references, not uploaded video or audio. Remove incompatible attachments before changing modes. A URL in a media-generation prompt is not a substitute for attaching its contents.
Yes. With @ai on and Text selected, paste a public webpage URL and ask your question. Hashchats can use extracted page content when it can access the page; chat link previews are a separate convenience. It may not be able to read a signed-in, blocked or unsupported page. Provide the relevant text or file if extraction fails.
Extracted text does not establish a page's exact visual appearance. Attach a screenshot for a visual question. For Image or Video generation, upload an image reference or use Insert Image Link where offered to turn a direct image URL into an attachment. Audio generation does not fetch linked files as input.
Yes. With @ai off or Text selected, use the microphone Record control, grant microphone access if needed, and stop when finished. Review the recording and any transcription before sending; the composer lets you edit the transcript when available. With AI on, sending requests a Text AI response. With AI off, it sends a voice message to the chat. This is separate from Audio mode, which creates music.
The combined attachment limit is 20 with @ai off, 8 in Text, 8 images in Image, one image in Video and none in Audio. On web, each attachment is limited to 32MB. On native iOS and Android, videos larger than 32MB can be optimized and accepted if the processed video is no more than 128MB; other attachment types remain limited to 32MB. A phone browser still follows web upload limits.
Messages can contain up to 128,000 characters with @ai off or Text selected, and up to 8,000 in Image, Video or Audio. These are character limits, not token allowances. Uploads must pass the selected mode's checks before they can be used.
Check the selected mode, attachment count, file size and the visible error. Text accepts mixed files; Image accepts images; Video accepts one image; Audio accepts none. Check only the device permission needed for the action, such as Photos, Camera or Microphone. Location permission is not needed for an ordinary file upload.
Retry on a stable connection. Native mobile video sends can show processing or uploading before the message is delivered. A pending or failed upload is not proof that the attachment reached the chat or AI.
Tap the message on mobile or hover on desktop web, then open More → Edit Message. This is available for your own message sent with @ai off, within 15 minutes, and only if it has no mentions. You can change its text, not replace attachments or edit mentions. AI requests and AI responses cannot be edited this way. Delivered push notifications are not rewritten.
For your own message sent with @ai off, tap on mobile or hover on desktop web, open More → Delete Message, and confirm. The message disappears from the chat, but delivered notifications and copies saved or forwarded elsewhere are not recalled. AI requests and AI responses do not offer this deletion action. Delete a private AI chat if you want to remove that whole conversation.
No. Deleted private AI chats and deleted messages are intended to be permanent and cannot be recovered. Messages sent while @ai is on cannot be deleted from the message menu.
For people chats, exiting a chat does not delete the conversation for other participants. Shared messages and media may remain visible to recipients as part of their chat history, so delete specific content before leaving a chat or deleting your account when that content is eligible for deletion.
Open Chat Options → Search Messages, enter your search text, and select a result to jump to it in the conversation. This searches messages in that chat, not the web or your hashtag library.
Tap a message on mobile or hover on desktop web and choose its Pin action. Use it again to unpin. A pinned-messages shortcut appears in the chat header when pins exist. Message pins are part of the chat and can contribute to Text AI context; pinning a chat row is a separate, personal way to order your chat list.
Yes. In chat options, tap Media & Files to browse shared photos, videos, audios, and files in one place.
In a People chat, turn @ai off, open Attach, and choose Poll / Survey or Location Pin. Complete the poll or choose the place, then send it to the chat. These options are not in the AI-on attachment menu. Location access is needed to use your current position, not to ask Text AI about a named place.
With a desktop keyboard, Enter sends and Shift+Enter adds a new line. Phone browsers and mobile composer keyboards use Return for a new line; use the send button to send. Check the selected AI mode before sending.
Yes. On web, you can paste images from your clipboard and drag-and-drop files into the composer. Standard attachment and size limits still apply.
Tap a text message on mobile or hover on desktop web, then choose the speaker-shaped Narrate action when offered. It creates an audio attachment for that message. Narrate is not offered when the message already has audio. It is separate from Audio AI music generation and from a live voice call.
Select the relevant text inside a message and choose Ask Hashchats from its text-selection menu. The selection is brought into an AI prompt. Add what you want, such as an explanation or rewrite, check Text is selected, and send. Selecting text alone does not send a request.
Hashchats can display markdown tables directly inside messages. When a message contains a table, you can view it in fullscreen or download it as a CSV file.
Yes. Open the message menu and choose Report Message. You can report messages as unsafe, offensive, spam, or misleading so they can be reviewed.
On an AI response, tap on mobile or hover on desktop web, then open More → Message Details (@ai). The dialog shows available details about that response, including its model and settings. This is where you inspect the provider used for a completed answer; the composer chooses a type and tier rather than an individual provider.
Open the paperclip Attach control to see choices for your device and mode. Desktop web offers Upload Files and Insert Image Link in Text or AI-off messages. In Image or Video, it offers Upload Photos and Insert Image Link. Phone layouts can offer Camera / Record, Upload Photos, Upload Videos or Photos / Videos, and Upload Files, depending on mode. Audio mode has no attachment input.
With @ai off, GIFs and Clips are separate buttons in the composer. GIFs opens Select a GIF; choosing a GIF sends it to the chat. Clips opens Select a Clip; choose a clip to preview it with sound, then press Send Clip. These pickers are separate from AI video generation.
Poll / Survey and Location Pin are also AI-off attachment options. To find existing internet photographs, ask Text AI to search for them; that is different from creating a new image.
Yes. If @ai is already on and Text is selected, open the model type dropdown next to @ai and choose Masterpiece under Image Generation, Shorts under Video Generation, or Music under Audio Generation. Describe what you want, check the selected type and send. For a normal answer, choose Advanced under Text Generation.
You can also stay in Text and type a direct request such as "Create a video of waves at sunset". Automatic selection can switch to the matching media type. If it does not, choose the type manually. Asking "How do I make a video?" asks for instructions, not generation.
An AI-generated message is any response generated by Hashchats' AI, text, image, video, or audio, sent in either private chats or people chats.
For a normal Text AI request, the app sends up to the last 20 available messages. When that set is full, eligible pinned messages outside it can also be included. Relevant memory and extracted attachment or webpage content may contribute, subject to context limits. This does not guarantee every old message or every attachment is read in full.
Text AI is instructed to answer clear requests directly using the available message, reply and attachment context. You do not need to confirm a task you already requested. A follow-up may be needed if essential information is unavailable.
Image, Video and Audio generation primarily use your new prompt and selected hashtag. Supported reply text or image references can be added, but those modes do not receive the full conversation as Text AI does. Include the details needed for the creation in your prompt.
Use Reply, keep @ai on, and choose the type for your next request. In Text, the reply focuses on that message rather than sending the normal last-20-message list. Available text, attachments and accessible links can be processed; relevant memory can still contribute.
For Image or Video, images in the replied-to message become references; if it has no images, its text can be added to your prompt. Video uses the first reference image. These modes do not analyze the reply's audio or video as general chat context. Audio can incorporate replied-to text, but does not accept its media as generation input. To control the exact reference, attach it directly and check the composer preview before sending.
With @ai on, open the model type dropdown immediately beside it. It shows the current type in lowercase, such as text. Choose a tier under the relevant heading: Text Generation → Advanced, Image Generation → Masterpiece, Video Generation → Shorts, or Audio Generation → Music. Scroll the menu if the lower choices are out of view.
If you are currently asking for help in Text, choose the requested media type when you are ready to create it, then write the creation prompt and send. To keep asking questions, stay in Text. The app selects the provider automatically; the dropdown is not a list of individual provider brands.
Yes. Text AI's Advanced tier can automatically use search when Hashchats determines that a prompt needs current information. Text hashtags can also be marked Search Enabled when the hashtag needs live information, such as recent news, current rankings, or fresh web results.
If Google Maps answering fails, Text AI can fall back to Grok 4.6 using web sources for local information. This fallback does not provide Google Maps verification; addresses, amenities and current availability may remain unverified.
Search and webpage context can add token usage because Hashchats has to process the search results and page content as context.
Text AI can show a completed answer even when source links are unavailable. Missing source links alone do not cause a failed response, and an answer is not automatically verified just because it is displayed.
Besides tapping the toggle, keyboard shortcuts are available (web only):
| Platform | Shortcut Keys | Function |
|---|---|---|
| MacOS | Option+A, Option+2 or Option+@ | Toggle @ai on/off |
| Windows/Linux | Alt+A, Alt+2 or Alt+@ | Toggle @ai on/off |
You can also type @ai in the message field to activate it.
Yes. With @ai on, a direct creation prompt such as "Create a video of a flying car" can switch the composer from Text to Video as you type. Image and music creation requests can work similarly. Questions, explanations, writing tasks and attachment types can keep it in Text.
Choosing a type manually stops automatic composer switching for the current composer session. You can still change the type again yourself; check it before sending. If you want usage instructions, keep Text selected and ask "How do I create a video in Hashchats?" A help question should receive instructions, not be treated as permission to generate media.
In an empty private AI chat, use the header's Temporary Chat clock control before sending your first message. If the chat already has messages, start a New Chat first. The conversation stays out of regular history, does not create durable memory, and is automatically cleaned up after about 24 hours of inactivity. Scheduled Messages is unavailable in temporary chats.
Open Home's main menu and choose AI Media Creations. The library page is titled Creations and groups your generated images, videos and audio. For attachments shared in one conversation, use Chat Options → Media & Files. Existing internet images returned by Text AI search are not automatically added as your generated creations.
Open an existing chat's Chat Options → Advanced Options → Scheduled Messages. This appears after the chat has a message, in regular private AI chats and People chats with at least two participants. Temporary chats are excluded.
In the scheduled composer, choose the AI type, write the prompt, and use the clock-shaped Schedule control. Choose the timing, then Schedule Message. The creator must still belong to an eligible chat and have available AI usage when it runs. The resulting prompt and AI answer appear in that chat. Participants can view active schedules and delete one using its More → Delete Schedule action. Creating or removing a schedule adds an activity message with the AI type, timing, original prompt and attachments, and any associated hashtag chip. Recurring schedules show the next occurrence in italic text with its timezone abbreviation. The activity retains the prompt and attachments after removal. Creating and removing schedules update the chat-list preview without push notifications. Normal scheduled-run notifications remain unchanged.
Choose Text, Image, Video or Audio in the scheduled composer. The schedule dialog supports one-time or recurring prompts with hours, days, weeks, months or years. Check the date, time and displayed time zone before confirming Schedule Message. Scheduling does not reserve AI credit or guarantee a request will run if the account or chat becomes ineligible. Scheduled mode uses the chat's Universal Hashtags where set; it does not show the ordinary # picker.
Hashchats can remember useful context from eligible conversations to make AI responses more relevant. Chat memory helps AI understand shared context like projects, decisions, preferences, goals, and chat norms. Personal memory helps AI adapt to your own preferences, interests, communication style, and ongoing work when relevant.
No. Temporary chats and chats with auto-delete enabled do not create durable memory. Personal memory is used only when relevant and can be controlled from your account settings.
Open the main menu, then Account Management. Scroll to the AI SETTINGS section and turn Personal Memory off. AI SETTINGS is a section on the page, not a separate submenu. Turning it off stops use of personal memory for personalization; it is not a delete-all-memory action and does not turn off the chat's own context.
Yes. Starting in Text with @ai on, switch to Image or Video, then type @ and select a chat participant. When a profile photo is available, the composer can attach it as a visual reference. Check the attachment previews and remove references you do not want before sending. Video supports only one image, so do not expect a multi-person set of separate photo references in that mode.
First check that you have enough AI usage for the selected AI type, that your attachments are supported by the current AI mode, and that your internet connection is stable. Then retry the request. For long prompts or many attachments, try simplifying the prompt, reducing the number of attachments, or switching back to Text AI if Hashchats selected a media mode you did not intend.
Scheduled AI messages also need the chat to remain eligible and your account to have enough available AI usage when the scheduled prompt runs. If usage appears incorrect or a paid request repeatedly fails, contact support with the chat type, AI mode, and approximate time of the request.
Voice AI calls and calls between people have been removed. There is no current call-starting workflow to recommend. You can still send recorded voice messages, work with transcriptions, use Narrate to hear message text and select Audio Generation → Music to create songs. These are separate message features, not live calls.
Starting with @ai on and Text selected, open the model dropdown and choose Audio Generation → Music. Describe the genre, mood, instruments and whether you want vocals or an instrumental. Include any lyrics or duration preference in the prompt, then send. Audio accepts text instructions, not attachments or linked audio files.
Alternatively, type a direct request such as "Create an instrumental jazz song" in Text and check whether automatic selection switches to Audio. Choose Music manually if needed. A song costs $0.25, using a fixed 10 billable seconds regardless of actual length. You can request up to 300 seconds; output duration can vary. To write lyrics without generating audio, stay in Text. To record yourself, use the microphone in Text or with AI off.
Starting with @ai on and Text selected, you have two routes:
- Choose the mode: Open the model type dropdown beside @ai, scroll to Video Generation, and choose Shorts. The composer now shows video. Describe the scene and motion, optionally attach one image, and send.
- Use a direct prompt: While in Text, type "Create a video of waves at sunset" or another clear creation request. Automatic selection can switch to Video. Check the selected type before sending; if it stays in Text, choose Video Generation → Shorts manually.
Shorts makes 5- or 10-second clips with native audio. The default is 5 seconds. Explicitly request 10 seconds or longer to select 10; longer requests are capped at 10. At $0.20 per second, those cost $1.00 or $2.00. You can use the # button after selecting Video for video hashtags, but a hashtag is optional.
To animate a photo, attach one image and describe how it should move. Video mode does not accept an uploaded video, audio or document as its input. Asking "How do I create a video?" stays a request for help, not permission to create and bill for a clip.
Starting with @ai on and Text selected, open the model dropdown and choose Image Generation → Masterpiece. Describe the image you want and send. For an edit, use Attach → Upload Photos, add the image and describe the changes. Image mode accepts up to 8 image references and no video, audio or documents.
You can also type a direct request such as "Create an image of a red panda" while in Text and let automatic selection choose Image. Check the type before sending; select it manually if needed. Use the # button after choosing Image to add an image hashtag, if you want one. A hashtag is optional. To analyze or describe an image without creating one, stay in Text and ask your question.
Hashchats chooses the image model automatically. GPT Image 2.5 Flare handles general creation on the OpenAI route; Sunburst handles its reference edits and backs up Nano Banana when needed. Other requests can use Nano Banana 2 or FLUX.2 Pro. There is no separate Flare or Sunburst picker. Show AI Details on new responses displays both OpenAI image variants as GPT Image 2.5 and the video fallback as Gemini Omni. Gemini 3.8 Flash Thinking keeps its existing name. Previously saved response labels remain unchanged. Masterpiece remains $0.100 per successful image, including when a backup model produces it.
The # button appears when @ai is on, AI usage is available, and no Universal Hashtag is active for that type. It is also hidden in the scheduled composer. Check Chat Options → Advanced Options → Universal Hashtags and clear the current type's default if you want manual selection again.
A normal selected hashtag clears after sending. A conversational Text hashtag stays selected in that composer until you remove it; use its close control to stop applying it. This differs from a Universal Hashtag, which is a shared chat default and must be changed in Chat Options.
Your contact list shows people you've interacted with in DMs or groups. On iOS/Android, you can also grant contacts permission to invite people from your phone contacts via SMS or email. Hashchats does not auto-sync your phonebook into your account's contacts list.
The two accounts are removed from each other's Contacts lists. This does not itself delete an existing shared chat or remove either participant from it. To reconnect through Contacts, use a fresh invitation. Removing a contact is different from blocking and leaving shared chats.
Block & Remove removes the contact relationship and removes you from chats that include that person. It does not erase the other participants' history or create a permanent ban preventing either of you from joining a shared chat through a valid invitation. Review the shared chats you are leaving before confirming.
Yes. On mobile, you can invite phone contacts through SMS or email from the Add People flow. They'll receive your chat invitation link and can join after signing in.
Hashchats uses authenticated accounts and access controls for chat data. People join shared chats through contacts or invitations, and participants can read that conversation's history. AI requests and relevant content are processed by service providers, and the service stores chat history and uploads. See the Privacy Policy. Do not assume end-to-end encryption, zero retention or that content never leaves your device.
Chat history and uploaded content are stored to provide the service. You can delete a private AI chat using Delete Chat. Eligible messages you sent with @ai off can be deleted individually. Leaving a People chat does not delete it for others. Account deletion removes personal account data and private chats, while shared messages and media can remain with your identity removed. Legal retention and the Privacy Policy still apply.
Go to your Account Management page and tap Delete Account. This action is permanent, removes personal account information and private chats, and logs you out. Shared messages and media can remain visible to recipients with your identity removed; legally required retention can apply.
When you delete your Hashchats account, all personal information like your name, profile photo, and account data is permanently removed. However, any messages or media (like photos or videos) that you shared in direct messages or group chats will remain visible to recipients as part of their chat history. This helps preserve the conversation flow for others but your name and photo will be anonymized. If you'd like specific messages or files deleted, please remove them manually before deleting your account.
You can sign in with email/password, Google, or Apple. Hashchats also supports password reset, email verification, and changing your email/password from account settings.
Open Account Management → Profile Settings to change your name or photo, then save with Done. A profile photo is optional. Account Management also offers Change Email Address and Change Password when supported by your sign-in method. Follow the verification instructions; Google or Apple accounts do not necessarily show the same credential controls as email/password accounts.
Check that you entered the correct email address, then check your spam, junk, promotions, or filtered folders. If the message still has not arrived, request a new verification or password reset link from Hashchats.
For your safety, never share passwords, reset links, or verification codes with support. If you still cannot access your account, contact support using the email address associated with your Hashchats account so we can help you troubleshoot.
No. You can upload your own photo, or Hashchats can generate one for your profile during setup.
Open Account Management and scroll to YOUR PERMISSIONS. Web and native mobile show Notifications, Camera, Microphone and Location rows. Native iOS and Android also show Photos & Videos Permission and Contacts Permission. Use the relevant row to request access or follow its instructions to device settings. The browser and operating system still control whether access is granted. Permission to record a voice message does not enable retired calling features.
When eligible messages or chats are removed, Hashchats also cleans up related stored memory where applicable. Temporary and auto-delete chats are designed not to create durable memory in the first place.
Open the main menu and choose the row showing the current System Mode, Light Mode or Dark Mode, then select the mode you want. This changes the appearance, not your chat's translation language. Profile Settings in Account Management changes your profile, not the app theme.
The app interface is currently in English. AI responses are multilingual, and people chats also support per-user auto-translation to many languages.
Open the main menu's Customer Support action or visit Support. The support chat provides AI help around the clock and lets you request human assistance, without guaranteeing an immediate human reply. You can also email [email protected]. Include your platform, app version, the control or error you see and the steps that led to it. Do not send passwords, login codes or full payment-card details.
