How do I ask AI for a destination’s location?

Reviewed October 17, 2026

With @ai on and Text selected, ask for a named destination, such as “Send the location of the Louvre in Paris.”

Answer

A verified single destination can appear as one unnumbered location card. A supported shortlist can show up to ten numbered cards. Tap a card to open its destination in Google Maps. Text AI cannot track another person’s live location.

New previews prefer an available place or business photo and use a map image when a usable photo is unavailable. Updated builds crop the preview to fill its image area. Saved previews are reused; old saved map previews are not automatically replaced.

The answer also retains Google Maps links if previews fail, you forward the message or an older app cannot show cards. If a place cannot be verified, AI can give an ordinary Maps-grounded answer instead. Nearby searches and directions use your available approximate device or network location.

Lookups use actual Text tokens, with no separate Image AI charge or location-specific minimum. Manual location pins are unchanged.
