How do I create a CSV, TSV or XLSX file?

Reviewed October 19, 2026

With @ai on and Text selected, explicitly ask for a spreadsheet file, such as “Create an XLSX family budget from these expenses.”

Answer

Supply the data or ask AI to use relevant chat context or available search results. AI can return a named attachment with a short explanation. Download it and open it in a compatible spreadsheet app; Hashchats has no spreadsheet editor.

  • CSV and TSV contain one data sheet. XLSX supports up to five sheets, typed values, frozen headers and simple arithmetic or SUM formulas with saved calculated results.
  • Limits: 10 MiB, 100,000 cells, 10,000 rows per sheet and 50 columns.
  • Arbitrary Excel formulas, macros and live synchronization are unsupported. Imported formula results may be cached.

Choose XLSX when typed dates, numbers or leading-zero identifiers matter; CSV and TSV apps may reinterpret text. Formula-looking exported text is escaped for safety.

Creation uses the requester’s Text AI tokens, including in groups, with no separate conversion charge. Downloading again uses no AI tokens. Image, Video and Audio express the content in their own medium. Attachment and credit checks still apply; TSV download does not make TSV a supported attachment input.

A comparison or question can include an export request, such as “Compare these plans and export the comparison as XLSX.” Ask explicitly for the file; a question about spreadsheet formats alone does not create one.
