Available participant profile photos are internal AI references, not composer attachments or photos on your sent message. Explicit reply photos come first, followed by attached photos, then mentioned participants in mention order. Image uses up to eight photos in total; mention photos use only the remaining slots. Video uses one photo: the first replied photo, otherwise an attached photo, otherwise the first usable mentioned participant photo. Ordinary mentions and their notifications remain even when their photos are not used.
