How do I create or edit an image?

Reviewed October 19, 2026

With @ai on, open the model dropdown and choose Image Generation → Masterpiece, then describe the image you want.

Answer

  1. For an edit, choose Attach → Upload Photos and add the image.
  2. Describe the changes you want, then send the request.
  3. Optionally use the # button after selecting Image to add an image hashtag.

A hashtag is a reusable prompt macro, such as #writer, and is optional. Image mode accepts up to eight image references, but no video, audio or documents. Specify the canvas orientation or aspect ratio you want; a portrait subject alone does not choose a portrait canvas.

Image models are selected automatically. There is no separate Flare or Sunburst picker. Show AI Details identifies the model used. Masterpiece costs USD 0.100 per successful image, including supported backups.

For a new image, you can also keep Text selected and ask “Create an image of a red panda.” A clear creation request uses Image generation and its price while the composer stays on Text. To describe or analyze an image without making one, keep Text and ask for analysis.

Reference images can be combined with research. For example, attach your logo and ask for a weather infographic using today's forecast. The lookup uses a focused public query without sending your reference images or their attachment links to search. Image generation keeps the same eight-reference limit.
