How do I make a chart from data?

Reviewed October 19, 2026

With @ai on and Text selected, ask for a chart and provide the values, a table or one CSV/TSV file with headers.

Answer

For example, ask “Make a bar chart: Apples 12, Pears 8, Plums 5.” You can also reply to a table. Text returns a PNG chart, explanatory text and the exact data table; request a CSV export if needed. Image also supports native charts, but does not return a data-file download.

Supported types are bar, date/year line, scatter and suitable part-to-whole pie charts. Limits are 100 rows, five columns and a 5 MiB input file. Bars allow 20 categories; pies allow six slices. Put units in column headers. Written dates, coordinate pairs and clearly sourced English whole numbers below one million can be supplied directly.

PDF, XLSX and image/OCR sources are not supported by the native renderer. Choose Text for source files and data downloads. Native charts use actual Text tokens rather than the Image creation price, with requested CSV export included. Failed native attempts do not charge chart tokens, and duplicate publication cannot charge twice. Charts work in private and People chats, including scheduled Text requests.

You can ask a question and request a chart of the answer in the same prompt. Instructions to avoid a feature, such as “Do not use a logarithmic scale,” do not request that feature. Chart titles and supplied data do not change the supported chart types.
