Will closing a form discard my changes?

Reviewed October 17, 2026

Forms with meaningful unsaved changes ask Discard changes? before closing.

Answer

Choose Keep Editing to retain the form, or Discard to close without saving those edits. Returning every field to its original value removes the confirmation. This applies to forms such as chat names, message edits, email invitations, selected people and schedule settings. Ordinary searching and browsing do not ask to discard, and settings that save immediately keep that behavior.

While a save is pending, the form can block Close, outside taps, swipes and Back. Closing a form never sends or submits it.

On updated mobile apps and phone browsers, tapping empty space in Chat Name, Email Invitation or Edit Message keeps the active field focused. Keep Editing preserves your text and selection. A keyboard you dismissed stays hidden until you tap the field again; returning from a panel waits for it to close before restoring an editor’s keyboard.
