Answer
- Open Chat Options → Advanced Options → Auto-Translate Messages.
- Choose your receiving language. This does not change the language for everyone.
- For a message, use More → Show Original, Show Translation or Translate Message when offered.
Auto-Translate Messages and Translate Message do not use your Text AI allowance or credits. Messages in your receiving language can keep their original text. Links, mentions, hashtags, filenames, complete code or math may also remain unchanged.
After the backend update is deployed, Hashchats ignores invalid saved language information. A confident check can recover the language; an uncertain result stays unknown. A confirmed match with your receiving language keeps the original without another AI request. A failed or rejected translation can use one backup attempt, even when Hashchats cannot identify the original language. When the first result repeats the original, the backup is asked to correct the translation. The backup must pass the same translation checks and can still fail. Unknown-language text is not accepted just because it stayed unchanged. If Translate Message fails, an error is shown. The original message stays available and you can retry. Editing a message invalidates old translations, even if translation was off. Re-enabling translation uses the current text.
Unread Summary supports the offered language codes too, including Meiteilon (Manipuri).
