How do I add or remove the image in a QR code?

Reviewed October 17, 2026

Hashchats uses its app icon in the center by default. Attach one still image, or reply directly to one image in the chat, and ask to use it in the center. Say “without a logo” for a plain QR code.

Answer

The first current attachment is used, or the first image in your explicit reply when there is no new attachment. External images need to be uploaded first. Center images must be still PNG, JPEG or WebP, at most 5 MiB and 16 megapixels. Photos are cropped into a rounded rectangle.

The center image can be made smaller for readability after decoding checks; it is not silently removed. Only an explicit no-center-image request produces a plain QR. The saved attachment remains a lossless PNG, though save and share controls vary by client.
